Description of Services:  
DOC contracts for 2 Beds in this Residential Substance Abuse Treatment  program.
Services are provided in a modified therapeutic community setting:
Clinical Services: Group counseling 5-8 times/week, monthly Individual therapy,
bi-weekly family Visitations. Family therapy as needed, weekly psycho-educational
 groups, random urinalysis.
 
Medical Services: Comprehensive health assessment; HIV testing and counseling;
ambulatory medical services; psychiatric evaluations; health education curriculum.
 
Educational Services: In-house job assignments; job skills training;Vocational/Job
search assistance available as needed.
 
Client Services: Assistance with applications for entitlement programs,
S.S Cards, driver's licenses, birth certificates, etc.

Eligibility: Males age 16 and Older, Medically detoxed and in need of inpatient
substance abuse treatment. Clients must  be referred to the program through the DOC.
 
Length of Program: 30 days (short term intensive) up to 6 months.
 
Description of Services
This 17 bed intensive in-patient substance abuse treatment program uses a
cognitive behavioral approach to provide a highly supervisedschedule for short
and long term placements (30 days to 6 Months).
All Clients receive urine/breathalyzer monitoring, education and
therapygroups, individual and group counseling. Group counseling includes
 substance abuse education, pre-release/life skills training, employment readiness,
 anger management and an issues group. All clients  participate in an AIDS
education prevention and participate in community service project on an ongoing basis.

Potential residents of the program are referred by the DOC WaterburyCommunity
Services. These Referrals must meet the eligibility criteria for community release
as established by the DOC.
 
Length of Program: Average length of stay is within 3 to 5 months of discharge
 from sentence, release to Parole or Transitional Supervision Eligibility.
 
Description of Services:  
The Bishop House Program is a 24-bed program which emphasizes  work-release
along with a substance abuse services, including random urinalysis are
supplemented by outside self-help & 12 Step meetings.
                                     
Cost to Inmate:              
Residents pay weekly room & board and contribute to the State Victim's
Compensation Fund.

Description of Services:             
Brooklyn/Bridge Program is a 36 bed Residential substance abuse treatment
program (RSAT), 6 to 12 months and work-release program,6 months, for
male DOC clients, located in Brooklyn Connecticut. Designed to assist inmates
in their-re-integration to society, Brooklyn/Bridge acts as a connection between
prison and the community. Utilizinga variety of educational cognitive-behavior,
treatment and self-help groups. The Brooklyn/Bridge encourages residents to adopt
independents and responsible lifestyles free of drugs. Alcohol and criminal behavior.
A dual Diagnosis component of the program provides services for mental health clients.
Graduates are offered after-care services as needed for re-integration support.
 
Cost to Inmates:   Once working, 30% of net income

 A 16 bed Work-Release Program for men designed to address substance abuse and
deviant behaviors. Focus is on developing skills and resources to become responsible

24 bed Work Release Program with primary emphases on employment and relapse
prevention support. Work Release provides residents with employment readiness
as well as the development of life and work skills. The program operates on a phase
system where progress towards program goals results in promotion to a higher level.
Relapse prevention is the key to the client's success. The program's journey of
recovery offers an opportunity to learn new skills through individual and group
counseling as well as fellowship experiences. Other services include:
 pre-employment assistance; identification card assistance; medical services
assistance; random urinalysis; life skills training; financial planning and
family issues group.
 
 
 
Cost to Inmate:       1/3 of net pay when employed.

Women's groups; medical/psychiatric consultation; referrals to community resources;
Narcotics Anonymous; Alcoholics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous support
groups; relapse prevention and discharge planning. An aftercare component is
provided by the Connection Inc's  Greater Middletown Counseling Center.
